Shahriar Nafees, after a precious season with the bat, was handed a place in the BCB XI for the match against the visiting Zimbabwe side in which Mashrafe bin Mortaza was named as the captain. The match will be played at Fatullah tomorrow.
The discarded national batsman topped the run chart in the National Cricket League that ended yesterday. He registered 715 runs from six games at an average of 79.44. He struck two hundreds and four fifties.
“I am looking forward to use this opportunity to play against Zimbabwe in the tour game. I will try to continue scoring heavily,” said the 30-year-old Nafees to Dhaka Tribune yesterday.
Nafees, who has 2201 runs from 75 ODIs including four centuries, added, “Every cricketer dreams to play for the national side but at the moment I am only concentrating on scoring runs and the rest is up to the selectors.”
