Bangladesh Under-17 team exhibited some brilliant cricket on their way to a draw in the opening three-day match against the visiting Cricket Association of Bengal U-17 side as the third and final day’s play concluded at BKSP Ground 3 yesterday.
The young Tigers enforced the follow after skittling out the tourists for just 148 in their first innings. Following on, CAB ended yesterday’s proceedings on 158/3 in their second innings, trailing the hosts by exactly 100 runs.
Resuming the third day on 83/4, CAB faced the music from the home side’s bowlers right from the onset. The dominant Bangladesh bowlers ensured CAB would only add 65 runs for the loss of their remaining six wickets.
Arnab Bhattacharjee top-scored for the visitors with 71 runs.
Sahadat Ridoy picked up 4/43 for Bangladesh while Nowshad Iqbal and Mukidul Islam shared four between themselves.
Earlier, the hosts posted 400/8 declared in their first innings, riding on the back of a fine century by Aminul Islam.
The two teams will lock horns with each other in the second of the four-match three-day series, beginning this Monday at BKSP 4 Ground.
