Taijul contracts hepatitis

Update : 24 Aug 2015, 07:16 PM

Bangladesh left-arm spinner Taijul Islam has been diagnosed with jaundice, medical reports confirmed after the 23-year-old complained of feeling weak during the ongoing ‘Elite Cricketers Conditioning Camp’ at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.

“He will undergo a medical checkup after a week. At the moment his bilirubin level is a little more than the normal level. (normal 0.3-1 mg/dl, Taijul’s 1.3 mg/dl) He has been advised with the primary treatment and hopefully proper rest will see him recover quickly,” Bangladesh national team physio Baizidul Islam informed Dhaka Tribune yesterday. Taijul has been advised complete rest for a week, Baizid added.

The national team management freed the cricketer from the camp as Taijul left Dhaka yesterday evening to spend two to three days with his family in Natore.

“I was told that the level is not severe and hopefully proper rest will cure the disease soon. I will be spending few days with family in Natore,” Taijul told Dhaka Tribune over phone while he was on his way out of the city.
