Ace cricketers Mashrafe bin Mortaza, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah, Shakib al Hasan and Rubel Hossain unveiled the new jersey of the national team containing the logo of sponsors Robi at Mirpur yesterday. The cricketers were flanked by top officials of the Bangladesh Cricket Board and Robi Axiata Limited, the telecommunication company who holds the sponsorship rights for two years starting yesterday.
During the occasion, BCB president Nazmul Hasan welcomed Robi and hoped the association with the country’s leading mobile phone brand will help consolidate the country-wide cricket infrastructure which is critical for the future.
BCB’s chairman of marketing and commercial committee Kazi Inam Ahmed echoed his chief and said, “BCB is very excited to work with a young and vibrant brand like Robi. Robi’s youthful exuberance nicely complements the competitive spirit of the national cricket team. We look forward to working with Robi for the continued development of cricket in the country.”
Robi’s MD and CEO Supun Weerasinghe said, “It is a privilege to join our customers and fellow countrymen in their passion for cricket. We intend to work closely with the BCB for the development of cricket in the country over the next two years.”
Mahtab Uddin Ahmed, Robi’s COO, BCB vice-president Mahbubul Anam, media and communication committee chairman Jalal Yunus, cricket operations committee chairman Naimur Rahman and CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury were also present during the jersey-unveiling event.
Robi also has the rights of sponsoring the national cricket team, under-19 team and Bangladesh A team. However, Robi’s sponsorship right will not cover the ICC-organised tournaments.
