Top of Mind bags Tigers sponsorship rights

Update : 20 May 2015, 06:44 PM

Top of Mind, a media planning company, has, again, won the two-year sponsorship rights for the Bangladesh national cricket team. In a three-stage bidding held yesterday at the Bangladesh Cricket Board office premises, Top of Mind, bagged the deal quoting the highest amount Taka 41 crore 41 lakhs – the biggest sponsorship deal signed till date.

BCB president Nazmul Hasan appreciated the deal and said, “This is the result of the people’s belief in our team. The real credit goes to the players. I know that if we ask for international bids, we will get bigger offers. Our ranking has gone higher, so this had an effect.”

BCB’s previous deal with Sahara was worth Taka 112 crore approximately which also included branding rights for the national team and the national cricket academy, title sponsorship and in-stadia sponsorship.

Nazmul informed the board is happy with the deal but it was not more than their expectations. “When Sahara took it last time, none of the Bangladeshi offers were close to theirs. Now we are seeing that we are getting higher offers than Sahara from local companies. We are happy that they have come forward.”

This is Top of Mind’s second stint with the Tigers as they also bagged the team sponsorship deal for Bangladesh’s home series against Pakistan last month.

Six companies took part in the bidding yesterday with the base price set at Taka 30 crore. It was an interesting and close three stage bidding with Grameenphone and Top of Mind as major competetors.

The telecom giants had bid Taka 30 crore 50 lakh while Top of Mind quoted Taka 30 crore 33 lakh in the first phase. Top of Mind won the second round by quoting Taka 35 crore 63 lakh, 53 lakhs more than GP.

The third and final round was held only between the top two bidders – GP and Top of Mind where the latter outbid the former by 41 lakhs. The other participating bidders were Impress Telefilms, Property Development, AKC Pvt Ltd and Bangladesh Lift Company.
