Bangladesh's fastest man, Imranur Rahman ranked jointly on the top of his event, men's 60m indoor, in Asia after bagging historic gold medal at Asian Indoor Athletics Championship in Kazakhstan.

The London-born athlete shares the place along with two others – Shuhei Tada of Japan and Bingtian Su of China – with a score of 1158.

The 29-year old clocked his personal best timing of 6.59 seconds to clinch first spot in 60m sprint four days ago, which is by far Bangladesh's best ever achievement in the competition's history.

“After the recent history making performance, for the first time the Bangladesh flag has been shown to the world at this level. We are so happy with this achievement.” said a statement from Bangladesh Athletic Federation Wednesday.

“Imranur is now jointly ranked No 1 in 60 meters ranking in the whole of Asia, currently in 2023, alongside current Asian record holder Bingtian Su,” the statement added.

Imranur ranks joint 21st in the world.
