Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is set to inaugurate the sports card and allowance program on March 30, Youth and Sports State Minister Aminul Haque said on Saturday.
He made the remarks at a press conference at the National Sports Council (NSC) in Dhaka.
Aminul Haque said honors will be handed over to 129 athletes on the day. He said: “Those who have established themselves as national athletes and have been representing Bangladesh at the national level for a long time will be brought under the salary structure and given sports allowances. They will also be given sports cards to honor them.”
He added: “Those who have won various medals will be brought under the salary structure and given sports allowances.”
The state minister said 500 sportspersons will receive sports allowances in total, with 129 to be included from April and the rest added gradually.
He said: “Sports officers will be appointed in 495 upazilas. Talented players from Notun Kuri Sports will be given sports scholarships.”
