Bangladeshi actress Pori Moni has announced her upcoming film Farzana on her birthday, with the project marking director Tarek Rahman’s feature-film debut.
The film’s poster was unveiled at Pori Moni’s birthday celebration last Saturday. Much of the shooting has already been completed, with the production kept under wraps until the announcement.
Pori Moni said the film’s look was finalised six months ago, but production delays prevented an earlier announcement. She added that she hoped filming would wrap up soon and felt her birthday was an appropriate occasion to reveal the project.
Written and directed by Rahman, Farzana centres on a woman’s struggles, motherhood and the challenges of navigating life alone. The director said he hoped the film would present audiences with a different side of Pori Moni’s acting.
A newcomer will play the male lead opposite Pori Moni, while Sushama Sarker is among the other cast members. The production team plans to release the film during Eid-ul-Fitr next year, subject to the completion of filming on schedule.
Pori Moni had not hosted birthday celebrations for two years following the death of her grandfather in 2023.
The actress was last seen on the big screen in Felubakshi, which marked her Tollywood debut in January 2025.
Her upcoming projects also include Dodor Golpo, directed by Reza Ghatak with government funding, Golap, directed by Shamsul Huda, and Shasti, directed by Leesa Gazi.
Nirab Hossain will star opposite her in Golap, while Chanchal Chowdhury is her co-star in Shasti.
