Actor and development professional Rafiath Rashid Mithila has begun a new chapter in her career after concluding her long association with BRAC.
Mithila has joined Columbia University’s Irving Institute for Clinical and Translational Research as an Associate Research Scientist. She has also taken up a teaching position at the City University of New York (CUNY) as an Adjunct Assistant Professor.
Mithila shared details of her new roles in a social media post.
At Columbia University, she will lead the design and evaluation of the New York-based Early Childhood and Family Hub initiative, focusing on early childhood development, family engagement and community health.
The initiative aims to connect children from birth to 5 years old and their families with resources, services and supportive environments.
Drawing on her experience in international development, Mithila said she hopes to align research objectives with the needs of local communities and contribute to developing effective programmes based on research and evidence.
At CUNY, she will teach Nonprofit Management, focusing on giving students practical insight into the workings and experiences of nonprofit organisations.
Mithila spent two decades with BRAC, including 15 years working in international development with BRAC International.
She expressed gratitude to BRAC for its role in shaping her professional journey and said working within Columbia University’s research environment alongside its researchers would further enrich her experience.
She concluded her post by asking for prayers as she begins the new chapter of her professional journey.
