The remake of the 1998 film "Hothat Brishti," titled Abar Hothat Brishti, will be released in cinemas across Bangladesh on October 2.
Directed by Kamruzzaman, the film stars newcomers Arian Sarowar and Radifa Narmin in the lead roles. The film has received clearance from the Bangladesh Film Certification Board, according to the director.
The original "Hothat Brishti" was directed by Indian filmmaker Basu Chatterjee and first reached Bangladeshi audiences through a World Television Premiere on Channel i during Eid-ul-Adha in 1998. It was later released in cinemas and became a commercial success.
The Bangladesh-India joint production starred Ferdous Ahmed and Priyanka Trivedi in the lead roles.
Abar Hothat Brishti retains the original story while updating its setting and presentation. The film is jointly produced by Ashirbad Chalachchitra and Impress Telefilm.
Speaking about the remake, Kamruzzaman said recreating a well-known film was a challenge. He said the team changed the locations and setting while retaining the original story for contemporary audiences.
Arian Sarowar, who plays the role previously portrayed by Ferdous, said he watched the original several times before filming. He said he drew inspiration from Ferdous’ performance but did not attempt to imitate him.
Radifa Narmin plays the female lead, taking on the role originally portrayed by Priyanka Trivedi. The cast also includes Azad Abul Kalam, Farzana Chhobi, Kristiano Tanmoy, Kayes Arzu, Mou Khan and Jhuna Chowdhury.
The original film was jointly produced by Bangladesh’s Ashirbad Chalachchitra and India’s Gramco Films. The remake brings Ashirbad Chalachchitra together with Impress Telefilm as co-producers.
Three songs from the original have received new arrangements, while two new songs have also been added to the remake.
