Actress Nusraat Faria has withdrawn from Raihan Khan’s upcoming courtroom drama Tribunal, saying internal issues have made it impossible for her to continue with the project.
Faria joined the film last year and was set to play a barrister representing the accused in a case inspired by a real legal matter under Bangladesh’s Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
“Raihan Khan is someone very close to me. We have spoken about it. I was supposed to play a lawyer in the film, but I am not doing it anymore,” Faria said.
“I have heard that there are some internal issues with the film. Because of this, it is no longer possible for me to remain involved with the project,” she added.
Faria said filming on her scenes had not yet begun, although a significant portion of the film had already been completed. Her scenes were primarily set in a courtroom and were scheduled to be filmed later.
Raihan Khan previously said around 65% of Tribunal had been completed. The filmmaker had planned to finish production and post-production before an Eid-ul-Fitr release, but the schedule was delayed, with reports citing actress Tania Brishty’s illness as one factor.
The film also stars Tariq Anam Khan, Moushumi Hamid, Tania Brishty, and Saira Akhter Jahan.
Meanwhile, Faria is nearing completion of Lapatta, a web film directed by Mehedi Hassan. Recent reports said only a song sequence remained to be filmed, with the project expected to premiere on iScreen in October.
Faria has also signed Lojja, in which she will star alongside Azmeri Haque Badhan. Directed by M H Khokon and jointly produced by Impress Telefilm and Jaaz Multimedia, the film is scheduled to begin shooting on September 20.
