“Widow’s Bay” emerged as the biggest winner on the second night of the 78th Emmy Awards, taking home eight awards at the Creative Arts Emmys in Los Angeles on September 6.
The Apple TV comedy-horror series, set on a New England island, won Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for Betty Gilpin, along with awards for casting, production design, sound editing, sound mixing, cinematography, music supervision, and music composition.
“DTF St. Louis” followed with six wins. David Harbour and Linda Cardellini received awards for their supporting performances in the limited or anthology series, while creator Steve Conrad won for writing and directing. The series also picked up awards for picture editing and cinematography.
“Spider-Noir” collected five awards, including Outstanding Cinematography for a Series, Outstanding Stunt Coordination for Comedy Programming, Outstanding Title Design, Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Single Episode and Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series.
Julie Andrews added another Emmy to her career record after winning Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance for her role as Lady Whistledown in “Bridgerton”. It marked her second consecutive win in the category, following her 2025 victory.
Another notable moment came when Rob Reiner posthumously won Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Albert in “The Bear”. The award marked his third Emmy and first acting win since 1978. He became the first actor to receive a posthumous acting Emmy since Raul Julia in 1995.
Shailene Woodley won Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for “Paradise”, while Ernest Harden Jr. took Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for “The Pitt”. “South Park” won Outstanding Animated Program.
“The Pitt” and “Pluribus” each secured four awards, while “Beef”, “Margo’s Got Money Troubles” and “Palm Royale” won three each. “Bridgerton”, “Fallout” and “Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal” each received two.
The Television Academy also introduced the Legacy Award, with “I Love Lucy” becoming its first recipient. The new honor recognizes television programs that have had a lasting impact on audiences, culture, and the industry.
The Creative Arts Emmy ceremonies held on September 5 and 6 will be edited into a single broadcast on FXX on September 12.
The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by Mariska Hargitay, will take place on September 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
