Rihanna is working on new music, according to her partner, Rakim Mayers, professionally known as A$AP Rocky, who said the singer is currently in the studio.
Speaking on The Jason Lee Podcast, A$AP Rocky said: “She in the studio right now.” Responding to questions about a possible new album, he added: “She cooking.”
He dismissed speculation that the couple was working on a joint album.
Rihanna, whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, has not released a studio album since “Anti” in 2016. The Barbadian singer has since released several singles, including “Lift Me Up” for the 2022 film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
During the interview, Jason Lee asked whether A$AP Rocky was the reason for the delay in Rihanna’s next album, referring to the couple’s 3 children and her busy schedule. The rapper rejected the suggestion and said: “Yeah, I said it, sorry, babe,” adding that he might “get in trouble” for revealing she was in the studio.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar in February 2025, Rihanna said she was optimistic about her next album.
She said: “I feel like I’ve finally cracked it, girl!”
Rihanna also said: “I cannot put up anything mediocre. After waiting 8 years, you might as well just wait some more.”
Alongside her music career, Rihanna has expanded her business ventures, including the launch of Fenty Beauty and a lingerie brand.
During the podcast interview, A$AP Rocky declined to comment on speculation about whether the couple had married.
