Three-day arts festival ‘Chamber of Being’ set for April 25–27

The festival will feature a fusion of existential theatre, contemporary visual arts, and live acoustic music

Meghagomprio Theatre Company will host a three-day multidisciplinary arts festival titled Chamber of Being at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy from April 25 to 27

The festival will feature a fusion of existential theatre, contemporary visual arts, and live acoustic music, according to the organizers.

Curated under the leadership of Chairman MA Samiiee, the program will explore themes of human consciousness and the modern condition.

Theatre Program

Each evening will feature a full-length stage production:

• April 25: Endgame by Samuel Beckett
Directed by Nawajesh Ashraf Easad, the production presents Beckett’s absurdist work, exploring the tension between control and the desire for freedom in a devastated world, with emphasis on physical language and silence. (Showtime: 5:30 PM and 7:30 PM)

• April 26: Baddhovumi (based on Jean-Paul Sartre’s Morts sans sépulture)
Directed by Nahid Nirob and translated by Masud Karim, the production follows five resistance fighters undergoing intense psychological struggle during World War II, exploring themes of moral sacrifice and betrayal. (Showtime: 5:30 PM and 7:30 PM)

• April 27: The Zoo Story by Edward Albee
Directed by Pollob Kumar Biswas, the play depicts a confrontation between two strangers in New York’s Central Park, highlighting breakdowns in communication and alienation in modern life. (Showtime: 5:30 PM and 7:30 PM)

Visual Arts and Music Program

The festival will also feature daily visual arts exhibitions and live acoustic performances beginning at 4:00 PM.

Paintings will be displayed on the first floor, while sculptures will be exhibited on the second floor of the venue.

The segment titled Silent Dialogue will showcase works by Mehedi Hasan Shuvro, Fatema Islam Prima, Jhalok Saha, and Md Rakibul Hasan, along with other emerging artists from Dhaka and Chattogram.

The music segment, titled Unscripted Echoes, will feature daily acoustic sets by young performers, including Murad Haque, Iftekhar Khan Ika, Sami Ahmed, and Chaina Patowary, among others.
