A Dhaka court has cancelled the bail of singer Mainul Ahsan Noble and ordered him to be sent to jail in a case filed over allegations of misappropriating Tk13 lakh by luring a woman with a promise of marriage.
The order was passed on Thursday by the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Raju Ahmed after a hearing.
Confirming the matter, the plaintiff’s lawyer Nasidus Zaman Nishan (Prince) said the accused violated the conditions of the bail settlement with the complainant. “Although he had agreed to marry the complainant, he did not do so after being released on bail. He also did not return the money. Therefore, we sought cancellation of his bail,” he said.
Following the hearing, the court revoked his bail and ordered that he be sent to jail.
On February 24, the same court had granted him bail until Thursday on the condition of a settlement with the complainant.
On February 3, the court issued arrest warrants against Noble, his mother, his wife and three others in the case after taking into cognisance an investigation report by the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).
On February 23 at around 12:30pm, he was arrested by Demra Police Station from the Bottola area under Siddhirganj Police Station in Narayanganj.
According to the case statement, Noble developed a romantic relationship with a woman and lured her with a promise of marriage. Taking advantage of the relationship, he allegedly took a total of Tk1,318,540 from her at different times between August 25, 2023, and June 2025, and later misappropriated the money.
The case was filed on August 13, 2025, after which the court directed the PBI to investigate. Upon completion of the investigation, PBI Sub-Inspector Nuruzzaman submitted the report to the court on January 7, confirming the allegations to be true.
Earlier, Noble was arrested on May 19, 2025, in a separate case filed with the Demra Police Station over allegations of rape and assault. He was later granted bail on June 24, five days after marrying the complainant in jail.
