After nearly 13 years, Balam is set to return with a new solo album titled Maula, featuring a total of six tracks.
Work on the melodies and musical arrangements of most of the songs, including the title track, has already been completed by the artist.
Each of the six songs represents a different musical style, though Balam has placed particular emphasis on melody throughout the album, much like in his debut album Balam.
Speaking about the new project, Balam said: “This album has been planned because I am once again taking music seriously. Over the past few years, I released a few singles and realised that it is very difficult to meet listeners’ expectations with one song at a time. An album allows for a variety of styles, enabling an artist to reach different kinds of audiences, while listeners can enjoy a diverse range of music at once.”
Balam has composed and arranged the music for all the tracks on the album himself, though he has chosen not to disclose the names of the lyricists at this time.
The album is scheduled for release in audio format during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, with one of the songs also set to be released as a music video.
Maula will be Balam’s fifth solo album. His previous releases include Balam (2007), Balam 2 (2008), Balam 3 (2010) and Bhubon (2013).
