In the wake of Sheikh Hasina’s resignation, Hannan Hossain Shimul has been freed from Narayanganj District Jail.
Hannan, whose recent hit rebel rap "Awaaz Utha" brought him into the limelight, was arrested on July 25 in the Bhuighor area of Narayanganj.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate Court of Narayanganj granted bail to all those detained in connection with the student protests against the Awami League government.
Rapper Shezan, the producer of another popular rebellious song "Kotha Ko," confirmed the news of Hannan's release. "We will tell the full story tomorrow (Wednesday). As we went through a tough situation, we are now tired.”
Many cultural figures claimed Hannan's arrest was due to the provocative lyrics of "Awaaz Utha," which had struck a chord with the protestors.
