Three Bangladeshi films featured in Mumbai Film Festival

"Saatao" by filmmaker Khondakar Sumon, "Patal Ghar" by Noor Imran Mithu, and "Nona Pani" by Saida Nigar Banu is scheduled to take place in Mumbai Film Festival.

The 20th edition of the Third Eye Asian Film Festival is scheduled to take place in Mumbai from January 12 to 18. In this edition, the acclaimed films include "Saatao" by filmmaker Khondakar Sumon, "Patal Ghar" by Noor Imran Mithu, and "Nona Pani" by Saida Nigar Banu.

Putul and her beloved cow conceive at the same time. Unfortunately, Putu[ loses her child, and shortly after giving birth, the cow also died. Amidst such sorrow, Putul discovers a new sense of motherhood in caring for Lalu, an orphaned baby cow boy. The film "Saatao" portrays the struggles of a farmer's life, the universal form of motherhood, and the joy and sorrow of common folk through a melodic narrative. The lead roles in "Saatao" are played by Aynun Putul and Fazlul Haque. Recently, the film has been released on the 'Amazon Prime Video' platform, accessible only to viewers in the United States and the United Kingdom. To watch it from Bangladesh, one must use the 'Bioscope' platform.

The film "Patal Ghar" revolves around the psychological struggles between a mother and daughter. The prominent cast includes Afsana Mimi, Nusrat Faria, Mamunur Rashid, Salahuddin Lavlu, Gias Uddin Selim, Fazlur Rahman Babu, Nazia Haque Orsha, Deepanwita Martin, Rawnak Hasan, Nasir Uddin Khan, Moutushi Biswas, Erfan Mitu, and Shiblu Pramukh. "Patal Ghar" is currently being shown in theaters.

The film "Nona Pani" unfolds several characters in a village in the southern region of Khulna. The story is intricately woven around their everyday lives in the present context. The movie features performances by Nasir Uddin Khan, Joyita, Bilquis Banu, Rubel, and other talented actors. "Nona Pani" is yet to be released in Bangladesh. It is scheduled to have its first screening in Bangladesh on January 26th at 7 pm in the main auditorium of the National Museum.
