Vocalist Tina Russell recently covered the song “A Kon Bethay'' written by Syed Awlad, composed by Ayub Bachchu and sung by Hassan Abidur Reja Jewel.
Russell in recent times has recorded covers of songs in new musical arrangements.
In response to a question about her reason for choosing this song to cover, Tina Russell said, “When the cassette of this song came out, I was very young. My elder sister bought the cassette. Her favourite artist was Jewel Bhai. That's when I heard this song for the first time on a record player. I loved the song so much that I memorised every word of the song. I have many memories of that period associated with this song.”
The original singer of the Jewel thanked Russell for singing the song anew. He shared the cover on social media writing, “Thank you Tina Russell. You sang very beautifully.”
Tina Russell dedicated the cover to Ayub Bachchu. She stated, “Bachchu Bhai covered a song called “Borne Gondhe” with me towards the end of his life. He played guitar on a cover song for the first time. I still have the recordings from when we were covering the song– ‘A Kon Bethay’ comes from a place of emotion and I dedicate this to him.”
Apple Mahmud Emil composed the new music for the song “A Kon Bethay'', the video was recorded by Gazi Shahjahan.
