Labik Kamal Gaurob's new Eid release song “Premer Manush” is set to change his two-decade-long singing career.
The vocalist and songwriter for band “Ajob” is primarily known for his baul music. “Premer Manush”, a collaborative effort of 10 musicians alongside Gaurob, will shift his musical identity in a new direction.
Labik Kamal Gaurob states on his new song, “I've arranged this as a funk rock song played on a traditional hand played acoustic instrument. Those who played with me are also regularly working on platforms like Coke Studio. Usually solo songs with so many musicians together are very rare in our country. We tried to have fun with it.”
The musician has plans to release an album soon to reintroduce himself in a new genre. “There are a lot of songs in my basket right now. I believe that my audience will accept me in the new form the way they have accepted me in folk songs.”
Labik Kamal Gaurob began his band “Ajob” in 2000. He went on to study music and sound engineering from the UK, later focusing on music management and his solo career. He has had several performances on major stages both nationally and internationally in 15 years. His long career has resulted in the release of three albums. Also known to direct music in films, Labik Kamal has gained a reputation in fusion.
