The date was announced by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Sunday

Update : 19 Feb 2023, 05:32 PM

After much anticipation, the Indian film “Pathaan” would be released in Bangladesh on February 24.

The date was announced by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting at a press conference on Sunday.

Previously, a total of 19 film associations decided that there should not be any problems in releasing Hindi films in Bangladeshi cinema halls.

Hence, that cleared the way for Shahrukh Khan's much-talked-about “Pathaan'” to be released in Bangladesh without any restrictions.

The film associations made the decision on Hindi movies after a meeting at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation on February 12.

They also suggested that 10 Hindi films should be released in Bangladeshi theatres every year.

Previously, a conference held on January 24, regarding the release of the film concluded that “Pathaan” was not going to be released in Bangladesh due to some legal complications.

The conference was held at the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

“Pathaan” a Bollywood movie, directed by Siddharth Anand where Shah Rukh Khan played the role of an agent, along with Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham was cast as the antagonist.

After its release, the movie smashed Indian box office records, bringing hope to Bollywood after a spate of weak showings.

“Pathaan” recorded the highest-ever box office collections for a Hindi film for its opening and second day in India, and raked in 2.5 billion rupees ($30 million) in its first five days, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted Sunday.

Its international ticket sales soared past one billion rupees ($13.7 million) in just three days, according to Yash Raj Films, which produced the movie.

It comes after glitzy Hindi-language Bollywood films struggled at the box office following the reopening of Indian cinemas about a year ago after a pandemic hiatus.
