The 9th Dhaka International Conference on Women in Cinema will be held at the 21st Dhaka International Film Fest (DIFF) from January 15-16, 2023. With the motto, "Better Film, Better Audience, Better Society," Rainbow Film Society will launch the 21st Dhaka International Film Fest on January 14.
Apart from other festivities and competitions of the film festival, there will be these discussion sessions concerning women in films at the Dhaka Club Samson Lounge, Shahbag, Dhaka.
Different presenters will present the following six keynote papers during the conference. "From Dhaka to Hollywood? Tuki the Tiger Takes a Trip: An Unusual Project," by Sydney Levine, trainer/ educator, writer and consultant for the festival, and international sales and financing strategies from LA, USA; "Human Security and Film: Rediscovering the Potential of Storytelling for Social Impact and Global Peace," by Dalia Alic, film producer, 47th Student Academy Awards finalist, and World Academy of Art and Science Junior Fellow; "The eye Behind the Cinema: Reflection on Woman Workforce of Contemporary Bengali Cinema in India," by Dr. Ipsita Barat, Head of Mass Communication & Videography Department, St. Xavier's College, Kolkata; "Hazar Churashiki Ma (1997) to Kalbela (2011): Political Construction of Love Affection and Intimacy in Naxalite Movement: A Feminist Contemplation," by Dr. Debjani Halder, filmmaker, film educationist and a Professor in Filmmaking and Film Studies, RV University Bangalore. Ms. Mehzad Ghalib, a filmmaker and independent film activist, will present the keynote paper, "Hawa- Mythology, Mystery and Magic Realism in Bangladeshi Cinema. Ms. Hannah Fisher, an international film and TV consultant, and former director of the Vancouver International Film Festival will present on the topic, "Who Are We?... How Do We Move Forward."

More than 200 films from 70 countries will be screened during the fest at the Alliance Francaise de Dhaka, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, National Museum Auditorium, and Star Cineplex. The festival will be inaugurated on January 14, 2023.
