Lee Ji-Han (24), a South Korean actor and K-pop singer died during the Halloween crowd crush in the capital of South Korea. Ji-Han was one of the 154 people who died in the Itaewon stampede in Seoul during Halloween celebration.
Lee's agency, 935 Entertainment confirmed the news in an online statement on Sunday. The agency wrote on Instagram, “We regret to inform you that Lee Ji-Han died in the Itaewon crowd surge. We want to express our deepest condolences to his family, who are devastated by the tragic news, also to his audiences, who loved him.” 9A2 Entertainment, another agency that represents Lee, also confirmed the news to Billboard, a media corporation on Sunday.
Born on August 3, 1998, Lee Ji-Han's career initiated when he participated in ‘Produce 101', a Korean singing competition. Soon after, Lee starred in a Korean Drama series titled, ‘Today Was Another Nam Hyun Day' in 2019, through which he came to the limelight.
The crowd crush tragedy occurred on Friday night during the Halloween weekend when a large crowd surged into a narrow lane. More than 150 people have reported dead along with many more injured.
Most of the entertainment shows in South Korea have been postponed and according to CNN, Yoon Suk Yeol, the President of South Korea has declared a period of national mourning.
