Actor Rhea Chakraborty has been charged with buying drugs for actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who died in 2020.
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) filed the charge sheet on Wednesday, reports Indian media outlet NDTV.
Rhea along with 34 others including her brother Showvik Chakraborty have been named in the high-profile case which was opened after the death of her boyfriend actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
According to NDTV, Rhea has been charged with purchasing and financing a small quantity of marijuana. She has been accused of delivering the drug to Sushant and making payments for it as well.
The actor faces 10 years in prison if found guilty of the charges.
Meanwhile, Rhea has dismissed the charges against her as a “witch-hunt.”
On June 14, 2020, actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Bandra residence. The CBI opened an inquiry related to the case.
The NCB also opened separate investigations into the drug use in Bollywood and the television industry following his death.
In September 2020, Rhea, Sushant’s girlfriend at the time was arrested but was granted bail a month later.
