Mita Chowdhury passes away

She had been suffering from cancer and undergoing chemotherapy

Veteran actress Mita Chowdhury passed away on Thursday night, June 29, at her home in London at the age of 65. Her daughter Naveen Chowdhury confirmed the news on Facebook. She had been suffering from cancer and undergoing chemotherapy.

Mita had started her acting career at a young age in 1968 and quickly gained popularity on both the stage and small screen. At the peak of her fame, she had moved to the UK and settled there with her husband, Shahed Rahman.

Some of her memorable performances include Humayun Ahmed's “Nandita Narakey,” Rubaiyat Hossain's "Made in Bangladesh," “Shanto Kutir" etc.

The beloved actress is survived by her son, daughter, and grandchildren.
