Bangladeshi singer and song-writer Asif Altaf collaborated with Indian musician Nachiketa Chakraborty for a new song, titled “Katatar,” which revolves around the partition of Bengal.
Written and composed by Asif, the song plays out through a dialogue between the singers, who share their respective feelings and regrets about the partition of West Bengal and East Bengal in 1947.
“Katatar” was produced by Chirkutt member Pavel Arin’s audio production house Butter Communication.
"Nachiketa is an extremely bold, carefree and self-assured musician. Even though I wrote the song keeping him in mind, I was not entirely sure if he would end up doing it. But to my surprise, not only did he decide to lend his voice to my lyrics but also collaborated with me for this duet,” Asif said.
“I was pleasantly surprised by his hospitality and professionalism throughout the project.”
The song is currently available on Asif Altaf's official YouTube channel. It was released on May 8.
