Celebrity offspring Agastya Nanda, Khushi Kapoor and Suhana Khan will launch their acting careers with Zoya Akhtar’s 1960s’ take on the Archies comics.
According to sources, Agastya, who is the grandson of Amitabh Bachchan, and the son of Shweta Bachchan, landed the role of the leading man, Archie. Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana will play Betty while Sridevi’s daughter Khushi will transform into Veronica.
Agastya Nanda Bollywood debut has been debated for almost two years now. Concurrently, Khushi and Suhana were some of the most sought-after star-kids for some time. All three of them breaking into the industry (which has little to no entry barriers for the children of Indian cinema’s royal families it seems) with the same film is bound to make major waves.
With this choice of cast, Zoya Akhtar might attract the wrath of Bollywood’s anti-nepotism squad spearheaded by Kangana Ranaut. But nothing can be stated for sure, just like the roles in this Bollywood musical, which are still under wraps.
Zoya herself has an impressive Bollywood lineage- daughter of Javed Akhtar, stepdaughter of Shabana Azmi, and sister of Farhan Akhtar. She caught the attention of the audiences and the critics early in her career with “Zindagi Na Milagi Dobara” (2011). Her success continued with Netflix’s “Lust Stories,” “Gully Boy” and so on.
The popular comics that was first published in 1942 has been adapted multiple times for screen, the most recent and popular one being the Netflix series, “Riverdale” (2017).
Zoya’s “The Archies” is currently in pre-production.
