In his poems, the ‘Polli Kobi’ Jasim Uddin has depicted the natural landscape of rural Bengal with words. In the evolution of time, many things are lost from society, from the country, and become extinct!

However, it is advisable to have a rule or system in the country so that these traditions are not easily destroyed. A country has its own culture, which changes over time. Everything that is beautiful and good may come from one culture to another. Man accepts them as if it were his own.

The history of Nakshi Kantha in Bangladesh is very ancient. Over the ages, the influence of the development of civilization or the development of technology in this ancient industry has also come in a variety of changes and variations! Now, like before, the craftsmen in the houses of Bangladesh do not make designs on nakshi kantha.

However, some people still hold on to this tradition. Md Aminul Islam of Jhenaidah Shailkupar is one of them. As well as being an artist himself, he is also playing a leading role in organizing and crafting artisans from house to house in the village. He has organized needleworkers in different districts of the country.

Aminul has been working for a long time with Aarong, the country's top design house. He has recently created her own brand Bangla Selayi. From here, Aminul Islam's exclusive handicraft products will be made. However, he said that there would be no similarity or problem in the design of Aarong.

At his village home in Shailkupa, annual agents meeting of Bangla Selayi held recently. Where these artisans expressed their views and concerns about this home craft. This industry still has a lot of potential. There is a huge demand for it abroad. All that is needed is the right people and a little initiative and cooperation from the organizations and state.

Aminul said that he has visited many countries with his work and exhibited, such as Korea, India, Portugal, Japan, Hong Kong. In those places, this craftsmanship of Bangladesh has garnered wide acclaim.

With the artists organized under the umbrella of Bangla Selayi, he will portray the heritage of Bangladesh with the rest of the world and increase the respect and pride of Bangladesh, said Aminul.

Now Bangla Selayi is making bed covers, cushion covers, kantha, shawls, curtains and many other daily necessities.
