Bangladesh Liberation War Museum is set to kick off the 10the edition of Liberation Docfest at the premises of Liberation War Museum on March 11.
The five-day festival, held in both online and offline formats, will showcase 140 films from all over the world.
Every day, four physical screenings will be held at the festival premises aside from virtual screenings of selected short films.
The inauguration ceremony, held at the auditorium of the Liberation War Museum, will be graced by the honourable Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud. Iranian documentary, “The Snow Calls” will be screened at the end of the event.
The jury board for the ‘national’ section of the festival includes filmmaker Shaheen Dill-Riaz, art critique Mustafa Zaman and actor Bonna Mirza. Films submitted at the international category will be evaluated by Pakistani filmmaker Ammar Aziz, New Zealand filmmaker Alex Lee and British director Mita Suri.
The best short film from national category will receive the prize money of Tk 1,00,000 while the best international film will receive $ 1,000.
Previously known as “International Festival of Docufilms on Liberation and Human Rights,” the festival is regularly organized by the Liberation War Museum in Dhaka, which was established in 1996 in a bid to honour the heroic struggle of the Bangladeshi people for their freedom.
With an emphasis on the fight for liberation and human rights, the festival is largely dedicated to promoting documentary films.
