Screenwriter and director Taylor Sheridan has in recent years made a name for himself by blending noir with western tropes and delivering critically acclaimed thrillers 'Sicario,’ ‘Hell or Hugh Water’ and ‘Wind River.’
Now, Sheridan is teaming up with Angelia Jolie, a star who has her roots in action-thrillers, for his second directorial effort ‘Those Who Wish me Dead,’ based on a novel of the same name by Michael Kortya.
Jolie stars as a wildland firefighter who is haunted by her failure to save three lives. Her last shot at redemption comes when she has to save a twelve-year-old boy, running away from two assassins, played by Nicholas Hoult and Aidan Gillan, through a wildfire spreading across Montana wilderness.

Angelina Jolie became a leading Hollywood actor after starring in a series of successful action movies including Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Wanted, and Salt.
Apart from appearing in the Maleficent series, Jolie has been largely absent from the screen since 2010. ‘Those Who Wish Me Dead’ marks her much-anticipated return to her action-thriller roots.
The film’s star-studded cast also includes Jon Bernthal, James Jordan, Tyler Perry, Jake Weber, and Medina Senghore.
Sheridan co-wrote the screenplay with author Kortya and ‘Blood Diamond’ screenwriter Charles Leavitt.
“Those Who Wish Me Dead” is slated for release in theaters and HBO Max on May 14.
