How Game of Thrones changed Sophie Turner’s life

Update : 07 Jul 2017, 11:10 PM
English actor Sophie Turner, who made her professional acting debut as Sansa Stark at the age of 15 on the HBO fantasy television series Game of Thrones, has earned a wide reputation and critical acclaim for her debut role. The 21 year old actor is now looking forward to season seven of the popular TV series, premiering July 16, in which her character matures from a pawn into a major power player. In an interview with Parade, Sophie talked about how Game of Thrones has changed her life. “The biggest thing that’s changed, I think, is the amount that I travel. I don’t have a base anymore. I don’t have a home, really. I’m constantly travelling and working in different places, and I really enjoy that. I feel like people expect me to say my anonymity has gone, and I suppose it has, but I never really felt that change because Game of Thrones acquired popularity so gradually,” she said.sophie-turner-gq-0516-03She added, “There was never an overnight kind of one minute I was anonymous, and the next, there were paparazzi. It’s been very gradual to the point where it’s difficult to notice. So probably just the amount that I travel now and how little I’m at home, how little I see my parents and my friends. I think that’s what I notice the most.” As a result, standing on the verge of the end of her GoT journey, Sophie plans to travel around the world as much as she can, while also pursuing her passion for guitar. “I want to learn guitar. I want to travel as much as I can, because then I can tan. I can go away to hot countries; that would be incredible. I want to go to Bali, maybe on my own, and just take time for myself. Or, just spend weeks and weeks at home and hang out with my friends. I haven’t done that in forever,” she stated. In 2012, Sophie was nominated for the Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a TV Series – Supporting Young Actress for her performance as Sansa. To date, Turner has appeared in all six broadcast seasons. Sophie made her big screen debut in 2013 as the lead character in the independent thriller film Another Me. She also played mutant Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse, which was released in May 2016 to mixed critical success. The actress will also be seen reprising her role as Jean Grey in the new film X-Men: Dark Phoenix, which will take place in the early ‘90s and follow the events of X-Men: Apocalypse, as a part of the X-Men franchise.
