Dr Anthony Fauci, hailed as a beacon of truth and the lone voice of sanity in the era of Covid-19, is now set to get his own documentary.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, National Geographic Documentary Films is developing a feature titled 'Fauci.'

Oscar winner Dan Cogan (Icarus) and nominee Liz Garbus (What Happened, Miss Simone?) will serve as executive producer while Emmy winners John Hoffman and Janet Tobias are set to direct the documentary.

America's leading infectious disease expert and Washington's longest-serving public health leader, Anthony Fauci has spearheaded efforts to stem the spread of AIDS, SARS, Ebola and now, the latest, frighteningly contagious coronavirus.

The documentary will feature interviews with former President George W Bush, Bill Gates and Bono and other key figures, who will discuss the influence of the 79-year-old physician on the national response to viral outbreaks.

“There is only one Dr. Fauci, and it is an incredible privilege to bring his inspiring, lifelong quest to cure disease and prevent outbreaks, to viewers around the world,” Hoffman and Tobias told the Hollywood Reporter.

“Dr. Fauci has become a household name because of COVID-19, but what people may not realize is the heroic and integral role he has played in shaping our national response to serious health crises for more than 50 years,” added Nat Geo's Carolyn Bernstein.
