Jim Carrey’s top 5 latest political cartoons

From Mark Zuckerberg to Vladimir Putin to Capitol hill insurgents, the actor spares none and brings the absurdity of contemporary American politics into focus with his hysterical political cartoons

Jim Carrey is a man of many faces. Known for his distinct brand of slapstick humour, the comedian has also emerged, in recent times, as a painter and visual artist, with a particular emphasis on the American political climate.

With classic films like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Truman Show and The Mask under his belt, the actor insists that he has always been a painter.

"When I was in grade six, my teacher confiscated a bunch of the cartoons I made in the back of class of her being mutilated by bombs and axes, dogs chewing her leg, whatever," he said in an interview.

From Mark Zuckerberg to Vladimir Putin, the comedian has spared none and brought the absurdity of contemporary American politics into focus with his caustic and hysterical political cartoons.

Here are the latest top 5 political drawings that the actor shared with his fans on Twitter –

Adam Christian Johnson, the father of five boys, gained instant notoriety after a photo of him stealing Nancy Pelosi’s lantern during the Capitol hill riot went viral. Carrey made the Florida man’s hat read ‘Rump’ instead of Trump.

The actor wrote in the caption, “January 6, 2021: The day “Lock her up” became “Hang Mike Pence!” And they meant it.” The man in the photo has been identified as Jacob Anthony Chansley, who insists on calling himself the QAnon Shaman. He has become one of the most notable faces of the violence inside Congress.

With a caption that read, “180,000 deaths and counting,” released in August last year, the drawing depicts a Trump supporter on the ventilator, wearing a 'Make America Great Again' hat. Donald Trump has been repeatedly accused of not taking the pandemic seriously and asking his fans not to wear a mask. During the Capitol riot, most insurgents were also seen without a mask.

Carrey’s caption from September reads, “Trump’s allegiances couldn’t have been any clearer in that debate if his hair were on fire - and it was.” The artwork was released before the election and Biden's electoral victory.

Jim Carrey celebrated Biden’s election win with an unusually positive cartoon. He wrote, “The war between fact and fantasy continues in America, but for now...a sigh of relief.”
