Tom and Jerry - the widely popular cartoon – turned 80 this year. An inseparable part of our collective childhood memory, the duo will now take their mischief to the big screen next year.

The latest feature, a mix of live-action and animation, penned by Kevin Costello and directed by Tim Story, will see Tom and Jerry – usually at each other’s throats - working together to save the day.

The cast includes Chloë Grace Moretz (The Addams Family), Michael Peña (Cesar Chavez, American Hustle, Ant-Man), Rob Delaney (Deadpool 2), Colin Jost (How to be Single, Saturday Night Live), and Ken Jeong (Crazy Rich Asians).

Studio Warner Bros released the trailer today, on November 18, to mixed fan reaction.

In 1940, the first episode of Tom and Jerry aired, leading to 161 theatrical short films and a number of films and television shows.

William Hannah and Joseph Barbera created this American franchise, and the series first appeared in the Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM) cartoon, Puss Gets the Boot. It revolves around a comical love-hate relationship between a house cat and a mouse.
