Karwa Chauth, a popular Hindu festival celebrating the bond of marriage, was celebrated across India on November 4. Traditionally, wives keep fast on this day, apply henna on their hands, and pray for their husbands’ healthy, happy long life.
This year, Abhishek Bachchan observed the auspicious day by fasting for his wife, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
He said, “We were both busy working the whole day and then in the evening, the ladies do their pooja. In the night they wait for the chand (moon) and do the pooja and break the fast. It was just that – a nice quiet family affair.”

Abhishek, who is starring in Anurag Basu’s Netflix original Ludo, made the revelation during a promotional interview with the press.
The Guru actor reportedly forgot to perform the Sargi ritual, which is traditionally when the mother-in-law offers food to the daughter-in-law in the morning before the fast begins. So, Abhishek had to fast without eating anything for the entire day.
Abhishek and Aishwarya tied the knot on April 20, 2007 and have an 8-year-old daughter, Aaradhya.
