FIR filed against Kangana Ranaut

Karnataka police revealed that a case had been filed against the Bollywood actor for comparing farmers protesting against the recent farm laws  to 'terrorists'

Karnataka Police filed a case against Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut after her tweets had attacked farmers for protesting against central farm laws.

The case was registered in Tumakuru district on October 12, under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections, including 108 (abetment), wanton vilification upon a community (153A) and intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace (504).

Earlier, a lawyer named L Ramesh Naik submitted a complaint contending that one of Kangana’s tweets regarding the new farm bills had hurt him.

The Tumakuru Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court directed the police to register an FIR based on this complaint.

Kangana Ranaut, who has been making headlines for her controversial political opinions and a clear right-wing agenda, called farmers who are protesting ‘terrorists’ in her tweet.

The actor wrote, “People who spread misinformation and rumours about CAA that caused riots are the same people who are now spreading misinformation about farmers bill and causing terror in the nation, they are terrorists. You very well know what I said but simply like to spread misinformation.”
