Ethan Hawke is all set to make his second documentary on the lives and careers of Joanne Woodward and Paul Newman - one of Hollywood’s most iconic couples.
The Before trilogy star promised to provide a “rare and exclusive look at the careers of both actors and a complex 50-year relationship that ultimately managed to beat incredible odds.”
Newman and Woodward, who first met as colleagues, got married in Las Vegas in 1958. Their love story managed to beat fairy tales and led to an enduring 50-year romance. The couple was well-known for establishing a healthy balance between their professional and personal lives, while staying very much involved in politics and humanitarian work.
Paul Newman died in 2008, after celebrating the 50th wedding anniversary with Joanne Woodward.
In 2008, a close friend of the family, Bob Forrester told PEOPLE, "When I would fly with him all over the world, the moment the plane landed, Paul would call Joanne and he always said, 'I love you,' even after 50 years of marriage.”
"She was his everything. They were soul mates," he added.

Four-time Oscar nominee Ethan Hawke, whose first two directorial projects were critical failures, found acclaim with his debut documentary Seymour: An Introduction and his last musical drama Blaze.
Ethan Hawke’s Showtime miniseries titled The Good Lord Bird, based on James McBride's National Book Award-winning historical novel, would premiere on October 4.
The actor stars as the legendary abolitionist John Brown who was told by God to “start a war that will end slavery.” Unlike the majority of the abolitionists who were pacifists at the time, Brown waged a fight against slavery in antebellum America.
