TV stars unite to celebrate Mahalaya

This occasion also marks the beginning of Durga Puja

Stars from popular TV shows appeared in their goddess avatars in a ZEE5 Global Mahalaya special event on September 17. This occasion also marks the beginning of Durga Puja.

As a part of the event, a dance-drama will showcase the nine forms of Durga, with each role enacted by various female protagonists from a variety of the platform’s popular shows. The event will see recitations by Sourav Saha in his character - Ramkrishna from the show Rani Rashmoni. The story will unfold to ultimately reveal Mahishashur Mardini, the final form of Durga when she kills the demon god with her trident after nine days of fierce fighting.

Debadrita Basu who plays Alo Chatterjee in Alo Chaaya will lead the line-up, followed by Tiyasha Roy and Ditipriya Roy from Krishnakoli and Rani Rashmoni, Ushashi Ray from Kadambini, Sampriti Poddar from Phirki. Other popular faces include Sudipta Roy from Khirer Putul, Swastika Dutta from Ki Kore Bolbo Tomay, and Jamuna Dhaki’s Shweta Bhattacharya playing Goddess Durga. The theatrical experience will also feature Abhishek Bose from Netaji as Lord Shiva and Dhrubo Sarkar from Kadambini as Mahishashur.

Ushashi Roy, from Kadambini said: "I feel that Kadambini has taught me to be bold and confident in a way that has prepared me for this legacy role of Satakhmi.” - .

"The Mahalaya event will be a great experience and it inspires me more to know that the world will be watching," said Sudipta Roy, from Khirer Putul.
