Actor Amitabh Bachchan called news reports that he just tested negative for Covid-19 "incorrect, irresponsible, fake and an incorrigible lie." The actor, currently in Mumbai's Nanavati Hospital, shared a tweet responding to a report by Times Now. Other networks have also reported that the actor tested negative, quoting sources at the Nanavati Hospital.

Amitabh Bachchan, 77, announced on July 11 that he had tested positive for the virus and was in hospital, along with son, actor Abhishek Bachchan. Abhishek's wife, actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan also tested positive and was moved to hospital on July 17. Jaya Bachchan, Amitabh's wife, had tested negative.
