Actor Sai Gundewar, who rose to prominence after appearing in Aamir Khan starrer pK, died of brain cancer on May 10.
A wave of sorrow has swept across Bollywood following the deaths of veteran actors Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor. Now, Gundewar’s death at the age of 42 has left a void in the hearts of his co-stars and fans.
According to various reports, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and his family are deeply saddened by Gundewar’s untimely death.
For the last one year, Gundewar was undergoing brain cancer treatment in Los Angeles.
He was also a prominent face of the Marathi Industry. In a statement from Maharashtra’s Home Minister Anil Deshmukh read: “Actor Saiprasad Gundewar, who won the hearts of audience through popular films like PK, was defeated in his battle with cancer. With his demise, the Indian film industry has lost a talented actor. A heartfelt tribute!"
The late actor’s wife wrote in an emotional note: "Taking it back to 4 years ago with my love, my husband my best friend, Sai Gundewar. This year we have realized more than ever before that life is unpredictable and change is the only constant.”
“So if you haven't already, let's take this time to be grateful for what we have in our lives, even the little things, and less time focusing on what we don't have,” she added.
Gundewar was best known for his memorable performances in pK, Rock On, I, Me Aur Main and David, among other films.
