With the slogan, 'Better Film, Better Audience and Better Society,' the most awaited festival of the year, Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) is all set to kick off on Saturday. In order to brief the media and journalists prior to the festival, the festival committee organized a press conference yesterday at the Dhaka Club in the city.
During the press conference, the festival director, Ahmed Muztaba Zamal was present along with other members of the Rainbow Film Society.
Ahmed Muztaba Zamal said: "This year we will have 4k projection and better sound system which will enhance the audiences' experience of watching the films."
Rainbow Film Society has been organizing the Dhaka International Film Festival since 1992.
This year, Rainbow Film Society is going to screen about 220 films from 74 countries. The movies will be divided under several categoriessuch as Asian Cinema, Retrospective, Bangladesh Panorama, World Cinema, Children Films, Women Filmmakers, Short and Independent Films and Spiritual Movies.
All the films screening will be held at the Alliance Francaise de Dhaka, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Central Public Library Auditorium and National Museum Auditorium, Madhumita Cinema Hall and Star Cineplex.
The 6th Dhaka International Conference on Women in Cinema will be held at Samson Lounge of Dhaka Club on January 12-13.
Throughout the festival, filmmakers, critics, journalists, officials from embassies of different countries, members of the film society will share their experiences with film enthusiasts, journalists and young film-makers.
This International Film Festival aims at creating a better understanding of the films of the world in an atmosphere of appreciation of the film culture, and to move towards excellence of the motion picture art and industry.
The festival will continue till January 19.
