Brooklyn star Saoirse Ronan has just been featured in the lead role in Ed Sheeran’s official music video for the hit single “Galway Girl”. The video, which dropped this Wednesday, features the Irish actress as the pub-crawling, titular character in the Irish party city Galway. The Norfolk singer-songwriter also traveled to the location to film the single from his chart-topping, third studio album ÷ (Divide).

Ronan takes the lead in the video, with the pair dancing in pubs, drinking Guinness and running through the streets at night. The English singer shot the clip from his own point-of-view, as Ronan twirls and gesticulates and leads him on an adventure through the Galway nightlife.

Sheeran collaborated with Irish band Beoga for this folk-flavoured track, which joins “Shape of You” and “Castle on the Hill” as the third song from the new album to get a full-production video. Jason Koenig directed the music video.
Recently, Sheeran also disclosed that Saoirse Ronan deliberately misspelled “Galway Girl” on his arm during filming – which he later had tatooed on.
Sheeran told the crowd at a recent gig in Glasgow, “When we were filming it, I meant to get a tattoo of her handwriting saying ‘Galway Girl’ from her point of view.”
“It actually says Galway Grill. G-R-I-L-L. She really took the piss out of me — full on,” Sheeran laughed.
