Update : 04 May 2017, 01:37 AM
More than 40 Bangladeshi fans have travelled to India to watch SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2 in its very first week. The group flew down to Kolkata on a chartered flight on Monday from Dhaka to catch the evening show of the film at a south Kolkata multiplex, reports India Today. One of the fans, Tasleen, who travelled to India from Bangladesh to watch the film said: “We have been waiting for two years to know why Kattappa killed Baahubali! I'm a diehard Bollywood fan. “We took the morning flight to get here to Kolkata to watch the evening show," she added. Ebne Hasan Khan, a businessman from Dhaka who went with his son and daughter to watch the movie said amid Bollywood obsession in Bangladesh they barely knew about south Indian movies. "We didn't have much idea about films made in south India. After watching the Hindi version of Baahubali 1, we were mesmerised. We could not differentiate them from any of the Hollywood films," he said. Ebne said his 11-year-old daughter Athoi, who has been a fan of Hollywood films, is equally thrilled after watching the conclusion of the Baahubali franchise. Athoi said: "We are in a complete trance. The storyline was captivating and it felt like a better version of The Gladiator. “The costumes were fascinating and royal! I feel immense pride as a south Asian that we could achieve this level of cinematic expertise," she added. Not just cine fans, but exhibitors are also delighted with the unprecedented cross-border response. Subhasis Ganguli, regional director of Inox in east India said: "We haven't seen such craze for any film in recent times. “It's a complete frenzy and the box office numbers are insane. We are starting every day with a 7:30am show since the release, and even that's housefull," he added. Fans across the world have been crowding at theatres to watch SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2. And the craze is not only seen in India but also other countries. Baahubali 2 starring Prabhas-Rana Daggubati was released in India which has reportedly been released across 6500 screens. According to some reports, the Indian fantasy sequel has even out-grossed the Tom Hanks and Emma Watson-starrer The Circle at the American box office this weekend.
