A weeklong film festival, featuring movies and documentaries on the Liberation War will begin on December 15 in the capital. The festival has been organized by the Liberation War Affairs Ministry, to celebrate Victory Day.
The film festival titled, 71 on Celluloid will be held at the Shawkat Osman auditorium of the National Public Library.
According to a press release, the festival aims to make youngsters aware of the history of Bangladesh and its independence through films.
Liberation War Minister AKM Mozammel Haque will inaugurate the festival, which will screen 11 feature films on the Liberation War.
The films to be screened at the festival are: Aguner Poroshmoni directed by Humayun Ahmed, Chashi Nazrul Islam's, Ora Egaro Jon, Guerrilla by Nasir Uddin Yousuff, Joyjatra by Toukir Ahmed, Arunodoyer Agnishakkhi by Suvash Dutta, Alor Michhil Narayan Ghosh Mita and Amar Jonmobhumi by Alamgir Kumkum.
A few documentary films will also be screened at the festival. The audience will get the opportunity to watch documentary films like Stop Genocide, Shei Raater Kotha Bolte Eshechhi, Deshe Agomon and Not A Penny Not A Gun.
Bangladesh Film Archive and Bangladesh International Film Movement are associate partners of the festival.
