Legendary playback singer Andrew Kishore was diagnosed with cancer on September 18 and for his treatment his family needs more than Tk2 crore. At this juncture Andrew's wife Lipika Andrew is conducting a fundraiser online.
Lipika has started a fundraiser on Go Fund Me website. In the description for the fundraiser, it is written: "This fundraising effort started after receiving request from Mrs Lipika Andrew, to help the legendary singer. It is unfortunate but there is no other choice when cost of medical expanses become unbearable.
"Andrew Kishore was diagnosed with aggressive diffuse large B cell lymphoma and is being given chemotherapy, since September 2019 at Singapore General Hospital.
"All Bangladeshis and music lovers need to contribute in this great cause for saving the music legend. Your donation will go directly to Singapore hospital and to Mrs Lipika Andrew. Please donate ASAP and as much as you can and keep sharing this url," the description ends.
The news was confirmed to reporters by Andrew's family members. The fundraiser was started by a Bangladeshi resident in Singapore on request from Lipika.
A student of Andrew told reporters: "He (Andrew) and his wife went to Singapore on September 9. After several tests in between September 10-17, his biopsy report came on September 18 showing that there is the existence of cancer in his body. So far, 12 chemotherapy sessions have been completed in three cycles. From November 26 the next cycle of chemotherapy will begin. 12 more chemotherapy sessions is needed to be completed in cycle of three. The doctors have informed that for such a treatment, which will be completed in three months, the cost will be Tk21,000,000."
Reportedly, each chemotherapies, which have been given to Andrew, costs Tk900,000. Already Andrew's family have spent well over Tk1 crore.
