Reminiscing Kalika: Bhuban Majhi to be screened in India

Directed by Fakhrul Arefeen Khan, Liberation War drama, Bhuban Majhi is set to be screened in India. The film, which has already been screened in international cities including the likes of Canberra, Paris and Sydney, will be projected at an event arranged in remembrance of late folk singer, Kalika Prasad Bhattacharya.kalika-prasadTitled “Poraner Gohiner Bhetor,” the event which seems to have become the entry ticket for the film to screened in India, will take place on April 29 at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhaban in Agartala. In order to join the event reminiscing the renowned band Dohar’s frontman, Fakhrul Arefeen Khan is already in India, accompanied by actors Aparna Ghoshe, Maznun Mizan and Shuvashish Bhoumik. According to the organisers, Manik Sarkar, chief minister of Tripura will also be joining the event. Bhuban Majhi, the government-funded film was released on March 3. The film stars Kolkata’s Parambrata Chatterjee, who plays the role of a spiritual singer Nahir who is inspired by a young lady named Farida, played by Aparna Ghosh, to join the war. Mamunur Rashid, Shushama Sarker, Naushaba, Majnun Mijan, and singer Syed Waqeel Ahad are also among the cast of the film. The acclaimed folk artist and music director Kalikaprasad Bhattacharjee composed the songs of the film. He died in a road accident near Gurap village in Hooghly district on March 7, aged 47, four days after the release of the film.
