Actors’ Equity Bangladesh, an organization of television actors, hosted its 2019-2021 election at the capital’s Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Segunbagicha on Friday. In an overwhelming victory, Shahiduzzaman Selim has been elected the new president with 325 votes, and Ahsan Habib Nasim got 422 votes to make him general secretary.
Selim’s closest contestant, Tushar Khan, received 116 votes, and Nasim’s closest contestant, Abdul Hannan, got 35 votes.
There were nearly 650 voters to cast their ballot in this election, according to Actors’ Equity election commissioner, Khairul Alam Shabuj. A total of 52 candidates participated in the election for 21 positions.
In the last election on February 10, 2017, Shahidul Alam Sachchu was elected president, and Ahsan Habib Nasim, general secretary.
