Mizu Ahmed, renowned for his super-villain roles in Dhallywood, passed away on Monday. Ahmed breathed his last aboard a train at Airport Railway Station, Dhaka around 8pm, following a heart attack. He was on his way to Dinajpur to shoot for the film Manus O Omanus, a directorial venture of Ahmed Ilias Bhuiyan.
Born on November 17, 1953 in Kushtia district, Ahmed was a theatre enthusiast. In the following years, Ahmed got involved with a local theatre troupe. His birth name is Mizanur Rahman.
Mizu Ahmed made his debut on the big screen with Trishna in 1978. After working on a couple of films, he established himself as a villain in the Bangladeshi film industry.
To recognise his acting, Ahmed was awarded with the National Film Award in 1992 in the Best Supporting Actor category for his role in Trass.
One of the most prolific actors of the industry, he has worked in more than 400 films. His notable works include Mahanagar (1981), Surrender (1987), Chakor (1992), Tag (1993), Bashira (1996), Ajker Santrashi (1996), Hangor Nodi Grenade (1997), Coolie (1997), Lal Badsha (1999), Gunda No One (2000), Jhar (2000) and Itihash (2002).
Apart from acting, Ahmed started producing films from his own banner Friends Movies in cooperation with another Dhallywood actor Wasimul Bari Rajib.
He left behind his wife Parvin Ahmed, two daughters Keya and Mou, and a son Haarsat.
