The group painting exhibition titled “Preceptor-Disciple: Disciple-Preceptor” was inaugurated on Friday, January 18, at 5.30 pm at Alliance Française de Dhaka.
Eminent artist Monirul Islam graced the occasion as the chief guest. Professor Nisar Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka, and art connoisseurs Abdullah Al Mahmud and Mikhail I Islam, attended the inaugural ceremony as special guests.
This is the first group exhibition by Oriental Painting Studio Bangladesh. It features artists Amit Nandi, Malay Bala, and Zahangir Alom, who showcase oriental paintings ranging from the classical to the contemporary. From mythical sagas like the vignettes of Shakuntala, the eternal love between Radha-Krishna, and the political aspects of the Mahabharata to the realistic, abstract, semi-abstract, symbolic, and modern presentations of the idyllic beauty of Bengal, portraits of towering literary and cultural personalities like Tagore and Nazrul, and contemporary socio-political and cultural features — all have manifested gracefully in their canvasses.
There are around 50 artworks in mixed media in display at this exhibition. The exhibition will be open to all till Friday, February 1: Monday to Thursday from 3-9 pm, Friday and Saturday 9 am -12 pm and 5 pm – 8 pm). The gallery remains closed on Sundays.
