“John Wick” star Keanu Reeves has keen interest in playing either Wolverine or Batman, but would prefer the X-Men's iconic hero, he said in a recent interview with Screen Geek.
The Hollywood superstar expressed his interest in playing either Wolverine or Batman on silver screen years ago, but lamented that both roles had already been cast before he could try and pursue them.
However, both the roles seem to be currently open as Hugh Jackman, 50, has officially retired from playing Wolverine after “Logan,” and Ben Affleck, who played Batman in the “Justice League” series, has also left the DC Extended Universe (DCEU).
During the Screen Geek interview promoting his new film “Replicas,” Reeves was once again asked if he would like to play any of his coveted superheroes, given the current circumstances. When pressed for which role he would prefer to play, Reeves picked Wolverine.
“Of the two, I’d love to play Wolverine,” he told Screen Geek.

On the other hand, Hugh Jackman told IMDB back in 2017 that he believes “Tom Hardy is a perfect fit for the role.”
20th Century Fox, recently bought by Disney with $52.4 billion, who owns the rights of the “X-Men” franchise in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), has not made any decisions as to who will succeed Jackman.
Reeves, 54, had a diverse acting career with iconic roles like retired assassin “John Wick,” a lovable slacker named Theodore in “Bill & Ted,” and his most popular work as Neo in “The Matrix” series, among the many entries in his long career.
However, Reeves has not played any major Marvel or DC superhero, except the role of the damned exorcist in “Constantine,” adopted from DC comic “Hellblazer” back in 2005.
In 2019, Reeves will appear in the highly anticipated “John Wick 3,” and “Toy Story 4.”
